This approach reduces the default rate and improves the customer experience, fostering customer loyalty even at critical times.

In debt collection, on the other hand, AI automates interactions with debtors, using advanced chatbots and virtual assistants that can negotiate re-entry plans based on each customer’s specific situation. It can also analyze the likelihood of success of different collection strategies, optimizing the timing and channel of contact to maximize recovery without compromising the customer relationship.

The role of intelligent algorithms

Intelligent algorithms, while lacking autonomous learning capabilities, play a key role in credit management, especially in contexts that require standardized processes and precise rules. These systems are widely used to calculate creditworthiness scores, known as credit scoring, which classify customers into risk categories based on historical data.

At the credit-granting stage, intelligent algorithms apply deterministic models to assess an applicant’s creditworthiness. Their use is widespread in the banking, insurance and fintech sectors, where rapid decision-making is a key factor for competitive service.

During credit management, these algorithms support the automation of repetitive processes, such as generating financial reports and segmenting customers based on payment behavior. They are used to send automatic reminders based on predetermined logic, such as fixed time sequences of email, SMS or call notifications.

Which solution to choose?

The choice between AI and intelligent algorithms depends on the objectives, the specific needs of the company and the complexity of the credit management processes. AI is the ideal solution for those who want a system that is adaptive and can optimize recovery strategies based on real-time data, while intelligent algorithms are better suited to standardized processes that require well-defined rules and a predictable level of automation.

Many companies are taking a hybrid approach, combining AI for predictive analytics and personalization with intelligent algorithms for automating standardized tasks. This integration maximizes operational efficiency, improves risk management, and optimizes outcomes across the entire credit lifecycle.
